Take to the Streets: Ottawa’s Street Seats 2026

Street Seats is a City of Ottawa pilot that turns sections of four side streets in Centretown and Chinatown into public places to sit, meet and take part in free programming. For the 2026 season, over 250 events have been scheduled to take place across four locations. ASA Live was selected to lead programming and daily operations at Bank and MacLaren, Bank and Frank, Bank and Waverley, and Somerset and Cambridge from June through early October.

We built a calendar featuring local artists, festivals, cultural organizations and community groups. Programming has ranged from a concert by the Wuxi Chinese Orchestra to live music, dance parties, film and animation, art workshops, fitness and family events. A Chinatown table-tennis tournament brought together more than 100 people ranging in age from three to 96.

Behind the custom-built public calendar app, ASA Live runs the curation, booking and submission system, artist and partner coordination, scheduling, technical and site logistics, daily staffing, weather decisions, cancellations and weekly reporting. It might appear as a small activation on one corner but is in fact part of an 18-week program operating across four public spaces.
